Scott MacAulay

scott
Scott MacAulay is one of the world's best-known pipers and he became the founding Director of The College of Piping in 1990. Scott has adjudicated, taught and performed extensively throughout the United States, Scotland, New Zealand and Canada.

Scott has many achievements and credits to his name. He has won many North American and Scottish solo piping competitions and has received awards for innovative teaching and composing.

Scott's abilities and his passion for teaching are best evidenced in the high success rate of his pupils on the international solo piping and pipe band circuits.

Perhaps the greatest achievement in Scott's piping career has been in heading a team that positioned The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada in Summerside as a leading international centre for excellence in Celtic performing arts education.

Scott can be reached at scott.macaulay@collegeofpiping.com

Matthew MacLaine

scott

Matthew MacLaine began piping in 1991 under the instruction of Scott MacAulay at The College of Piping.  He played in The College of Piping Pipe Band from 1992-1998 when they took numerous titles throughout North America.

In 1998, Matthew began piping for the Governor General's Foot Guards in Ottawa and was influenced by the piping tuition and methods of Fraser Clark and Sandy Jones.  After his term with the Foot Guards, he joined the 48th Highlanders of Canada Pipe Band under Pipe Major Sandy Dewar and toured and performed across Canada, the United States and Europe.

In September 2006, Matthew was honoured to start his career as the piping instructor at The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada.

Matthew can be reached at matthew.maclaine@collegeofpiping.com

"Piping is a form of social glue which binds scattered adherents into unlikely clusters of boisterous company."

Professor Dan MacInnes

"It is the supreme act of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge."

Albert Einstein
