Matthew MacLaine began piping in 1991 under the instruction of Scott MacAulay at The College of Piping. He played in The College of Piping Pipe Band from 1992-1998 when they took numerous titles throughout North America.
In 1998, Matthew began piping for the Governor General's Foot Guards in Ottawa and was influenced by the piping tuition and methods of Fraser Clark and Sandy Jones. After his term with the Foot Guards, he joined the 48th Highlanders of Canada Pipe Band under Pipe Major Sandy Dewar and toured and performed across Canada, the United States and Europe.
In September 2006, Matthew was honoured to start his career as the piping instructor at The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada.
