“The general public does not currently adequately value the role of music and the arts in the development and engagement of young people. Many School Boards do not recognize music and arts as a pillar to education and have concentrated on math, science and literacy skills. Corporate and private philanthropic sectors often view health and mainstream education as more worthy causes to support than music and the arts and culture. More young people need the opportunity to create and explore music and the arts and culture. Arts organizations need more resources to develop works and programs that both engage and respect youth.”

The College of Piping is such an organization. It engages, respects and inspires youth.
Available Scholarships:
Excellence Scholarships
To maintain the burgeoning instructional program in bagpiping and drumming, and to expand the scholarship offerings to include Highland Dance, Step Dance and other performing disciplines, Excellence Scholarships have become of paramount importance.
Excellence Scholarships can be funded in one of two ways.
1)A $500 commitment provided annually by the donor.
2)A One-Time $10,000 contribution.
The one-time $10,000 commitment for a scholarship ensures that $500 in annual scholarships will be offered in perpetuity.
The $10,000 one-time contribution will be pooled with other Endowed Funds and continue to appreciate over time. None of the principal dollars contributed to the fund can be touched and a maximum of up to ninety per cent of the interest on the principal can be used. This ensures that at least 10% of the annual interest on the principal will be rolled over and will continue to grow year after year, providing much needed long term security for The College of Piping.
The College of Piping currently is seeking support for 20 Excellence Scholarships:
5 in Bagpiping, 5 in Drumming, 5 in Highland Dancing and 5 in Step Dancing at $10,000 per Scholarship. These scholarships will recognize outstanding students.
