Her Excellency The Right Hounourable Michaëlle Jean has agreed to become Patron of The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada.
In accepting patronage, the Governor General mentioned that she is happy to lend her endorsement and conveyed her very best wishes for the continuing success of The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada.
The College of Piping and Celtic Performing Arts of Canada was established in 1990 as a non-profit organization and a registered Canadian charity. It is a world-class educational facility and Celtic performing arts production house with a mandate that aims to preserve and promote the Celtic heritage of Canada's most Celtic province-Prince Edward Island. The College of Piping is unique in being the only year-round school of its kind in North America and enjoys an association with a sister institution, The College of Piping in Glasgow, Scotland.
"We are deeply honoured and extremely pleased to have Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, endorse the mission and mandate of The College of Piping by becoming our Patron. She brings a tremendous amount of honour and prestige to our institution and, in becoming our Patron, reinforces our resolve to carry on with our mission of "Inspiring Excellence in Celtic Performing Arts through Quality Educational Programming."
